Preparing New Path at the Cemetery

We are well on the way to completing the new path at St.Margarets Cemetery.

Sometime over the next few weeks we will need help to spread and rake down the material on its surface. We have a small machine which will be depositing the material at intervals along the path so there will be no wheel borrowing involved...just elbow grease to get it spread.

If you have some free time and are able to be called on short notice give me a call and we can arrange a time for you to come down and help.

Thank you in advance .

St. Margaret's Cemetery: Backhoe and Operator Needed

As mentioned earlier this spring St.Margarets Cemetery is looking for an on island backhoe operator who is capable of digging graves for the burial of human remains. Although we have access to off island operators it would be more efficient cost wise and time wise to have someone on Thetis do this job.

Fortunately the necessity for this work does not happen often. St.Margarets has had two such burials in the last year after a period of eight years with none.

The machine must be able to dig a 4 ft by 8 ft  by 6 ft deep grave and at the same time be of a size which the cemetery can accommodate.

If you think this might be something you are interested in doing please contact Suzanne 250-246-9965.

Forbes Hall Expansion Update: Fundraising Campaign

In late July, TICA sent out a request for financial support to complete the Forbes Hall Project. Already, there has been $58,672 received in direct donations, and $28,840 pledged, either monthly or annually for 1 to 5 years, for a combined total of $87,512.  This is a remarkable show of generosity and support, and we sincerely thank all who contributed.

Thank you for returning donations and/or pledge forms by August 20th. The response was important for planning purposes for the completion of Forbes Hall.

However, the Campaign continues! There remains $507,488 to be raised or sourced, and we encourage those who have not yet contributed to please consider a donation or pledge, as every dollar counts, and every pledge makes a difference. How to donate: http://www.thetisisland.net/tica/images/ASK%20Donation%20Form.pdf

We encourage you to show your support through contributions.

For those who choose to pledge monthly, please check with your financial institution, as many provide recurring monthly auto-transfers, which will provide you with an easy way to make your monthly payment.

We are sincerely grateful to those who donated and pledged towards this project.  By contributing, you show support for the Hall as the heart of our community, where we will once again gather in so many different ways. The momentum created is inspiring, and energizes the desire and belief in the renewal of Forbes Hall.
