Clocks Back ~ Battery Check

We set our clocks back this weekend (Sunday, November 3) as Daylight Savings Time comes to an end for 2013.

The TIVFD reminds you that this is a great time to change out the battery on your smoke alarm (and CO monitor), replace the smoke alarm if it is more than ten years old, dust or vacuum the smoke alarm when you change out the batteries, and review your fire escape plan.

Smoke alarm units expire after ten years, and may not work properly during an emergency even though your monthly battery test sounds the alarm.  Make sure your units haven't expired.

If you need a new smoke alarm, please call the Duty Officer  250-252-0228 and we will be happy to supply you with one as a gift to keep you and your household safe.
