Curious about the marine animals that live under the ocean off Thetis Island? Come on down to the Community Dock on Monday at 9:15 a.m. and watch  Andy Lamb and Peter Luckham dive and bring up seastars, sea cucumbers, crabs, fish and other subtidal animals non-divers rarely see. Naturalists will be on hand to answer questions about the fascinating life histories of these Salish Sea inhabitants.

Then treat yourself to a fabulous feature length film at Forbes Hall at 7:30 pm. If you love the ocean, you won't want to miss Mission Blue: The Life of Sylvia Earle. See some exquisite underwater footage and learn about the pioneering work of the world's first female diver and oceanographer and her efforts to create Hope Spots, a global network of Marine Protected Areas. Then stay afterwards for a community discussion about how we Thetis Islanders can work to improve the health of the waters around our home.

Ocean LearnFest is brought to you by the Thetis Island Nature Conservancy with financial support from the Thetis Island Community Fund. For a full schedule of events go to
