Starting November 1st (Tuesday) permits will no longer be required for campfires and Category 2 outdoor burn piles (yard waste) and incinerators.  All yard waste burning must comply with the Category 2 fire regulations and the Ministry of Environment Venting Index must be consulted prior to ignition.

Category 3 fires (land clearing piles) must have a Provincial Registration Number in place and the TIVFD must be notified of that number before lighting the fire, and also must follow the Smoke Venting Regulations

The Venting Index link is

https://governmentofbc.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=6d288bc667b24528a5c1e3b4c0373d07

Or go to the TIVFD website and follow the venting index link.

For a Provincial Registration Permit for land clearing fires, go to

https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/safety/wildfire-status/fire-bans-and-restrictions/ofts-burn-registration and email or phone the Ministry of Forests.

The Venting Index must be followed because we are in a High smoke sensitivity zone and outdoor, smoke-producing fires may be lit only when the Venting Index is marked GOOD for that day.

No garbage, hazardous materials, or burning of construction materials is permitted at any time.  For a complete list of outdoor burning regulations for BC, go to

https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/environment/air-land-water/air/air-pollution/smoke-burning/burning-outdoors

Please remember that we all share the same airshed and if you must burn, do it responsibly.
