The Great Brown Tiger of Thetis Island will roar no more.
Radio amateur VE7GBT, Les Saul, a resident of Thetis Island since 1983, and a radio amateur since 1947, died on February 3rd, 2022 in Victoria, BC. Born in St James, Manitoba, he served on the destroyer HMCS Gatineau as a signalman, in WWII in the English Channel. Prior to retirement he published a weekly newspaper, was employed in radio and television news and in public relations for the federal government. Predeceased by his wife of 63 years Frances (Cliffe) in October 2013, he is survived by daughters Jennifer LeBlanc (Chad), of Victoria, Patricia Sumner (Colin), of Bridlington, England, and son Donovan of Thetis Island, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Interment will be in the family plot on Thetis Island at Forbes Hall, on Monday, February 21, 2022 at 11:30 a.m.
Masks will be required at the service, and unfortunately due to Public Health restrictions, no reception will take place after the service.
