Thank You

The TICA Board thanks the members of the Resurfacing Committee who stepped up to take on the responsibility of meeting the obligations of the bequest TICA was the recipient of.

Doug Darling, Bob Kasting, and Kathleen Thompson researched what could be accomplished with the funds received and found contractors that could complete the asphalt and line-painting within budget.  Besides lots of research, phone calls, emails and hair-pulling, they all put significant elbow grease into the project.

Thanks, Tim French, for your assistance with the electrical work.

Thanks, Dixon Strachan, for welding the posts.

Thank you to the following volunteers who turned up when there were call outs for assistance with taking down and re-installing the fence and other jobs: Mike Comeau, Dave Green, Ed Jones, Chad Kerr, Jim Moloney, Alex Rozewicz, Ralph Smith, Karl Unger, Colleen Vanderheide, Jake Vanderheide, and Dave Vernon.

There are some small jobs left to be done, but they won’t affect the use of the court.  A new basketball hoop and backboard will be installed, the remaining sides of the court will be cleared of grass, and hardscaping cloth and gravel laid.  Additionally, the bent top rail will be replaced, and if funds allow, a new rebound board will be installed.  Benches will be sanded and painted.

Use & Respect

Please be respectful of the court and the amount of volunteer hours it represents, and the gift we were given allowing us to accomplish the work.

The new net and posts have been installed – they will be up from late March through Thanksgiving each year and are not to be removed.  If a function or activity is being held that would necessitate the net being removed, contact info@forbeshall.ca and it can be discussed.  With no longer having guywires from the net to the fencing, the whole court is now useful for most activities even with the net up.

Independent of the Re-surfacing Committee, someone attempted to install the old net, and when unsuccessful, left the net and posts in disarray in the middle of the court, causing significant work for the volunteers.  Remember to ask first before changing or adding equipment at the court and Forbes Hall Community Centre in general.

Court Protocols

The Court Protocols are now posted on the bulletin board on the Courtside Patio.  They cover all aspects of game scheduling etc.  There is an adjacent black board to write down your Casual Pre-scheduled Game within 24 hrs of play. This allows for others to check out the court’s availability.

See full protocols here: link to pdf

Currently there is one Forbes Hall Community Activity booked for the court – community activities allow for other members of the community to join when possible.

            Pickle Ball Community Activity

Sundays, Tuesdays and Fridays 9:00 am – 12:00 through Labour Day.

Contact Dave & Bev Green for more information.

Thank you,

TICA Board
