Kelp in the Salish Sea (and around the world) are in decline. As kelp supports many fish and invertebrates, restoration of kelp could contribute to healthy marine ecosystems. A group of Thetis Island volunteers, in collaboration with Ocean Wise Conservation Association and Canadian Kelp Resources, is pursuing a small aquaculture lease to attempt to restore bull kelp around Fraser point, Thetis Island.
