February 26th, 1981-2026 ~ 45th Anniversary of Thetis Island Community Association
On this day 45 years ago, Thetis Islanders Elmer Bichel, Donna Kaiser, Harry Pardee, Don McClinton and David Vickers signed the papers of incorporation that created the Thetis Island Community Association.
Sitting on a log in the forest of the land which would soon be donated to the newly formed TICA, members looked forward to being able to create a place for the whole community to use and enjoy, and the path to our current Forbes Hall began. After the land was formally donated by the Forbes sisters in December 1981, the outhouses were built, followed a couple of years later by the building of the Pavilion (then called the outdoor kitchen), and in a few more years the original Forbes Hall, and subsequently the library addition, the sports court and the playground. More recently, in 2021 the new Forbes Hall Community Centre opened, and in this past year the installation of solar panels was completed.

A heartfelt thank you to our generous, creative and hard-working community for its commitment in providing these wonderful facilities to all islanders.
