The Kaiyalis Family has Arrived!

The Syrian Family, the Kaiyalis, whose sponsorship was largely funded by the folks and friends of Thetis Island, have arrived in the Cowichan Valley. We met them on Friday. It was very touching and emotional. They and their family members we met from Victoria are all lovely. Now they settle in to tasks of starting school, English classes, and getting used to life in their new community.

Thetis Island Phone Book

I'm in the last stages of collecting updated information for the next issue of the Thetis Island Phone Book, but there are some people I haven't been able to reach.

One group are those who have recently moved or bought property here, but haven't let me know. I have no way of discovering who the new people are or any contact information for them, so if you fall into that category, or know anyone who does, would you please let me know? There's no requirement, of course, but it does make it easier for the Fire Department and First Responders if you are in there, so if you don't mind being included, please get back to me.

REMEMBER THE SIGNS OF STROKE...FAST

Arms - can you raise both?

Speech - is it slurred or jumbled?

Time - to call 9-1-1 right away!
