An Excellent Book in Our Library ~

At Saturday's Remembrance Day ceremony a couple of folks asked me about a book I mentioned. It is an extraordinary work of (history) Non-Fiction, as well as winner of the Nobel Peace Prize for Literature.

Title: The Unwomanly Face of War Author: Svetlana Alexievich.

I am in the process of reading it, and am passing it over to the next person. It will find it's way back to our Library here in due time. It is a book that should be, needs to be read.

Note: There were over a million fighting female soldiers in the Russian Army who fought alongside men, against the Nazis.

Tide Table Charts Needed

I have been downloading and transcribing the tide tables featured on the back cover of the Quarterly for many years now, but the information is getting harder and harder to find in an easily accessible form.  If anyone out there can point me to a digital version of the tide tables for something other than a week at a time, preferably in an easily downloadable form, I would be very grateful!  I'd be even more abjectly grateful if that someone would take on the project of providing the Quarterly with the information :-)

TIRRA Bylaw Changes

As presented at the TIRRA October General Meeting, TIRRA is revising the Bylaws to meet new government requirements.

The New Societies Act & Transition

The Societies Act came into effect November 28, 2016 and governs how societies (not-for-profit corporations) are created and run in B.C. The Act includes significant updates to allow for more flexibility in how societies operate, while still protecting the public interest.
