Thetis Is. Phonebook ~ Correction

A few more people have noticed that the number for the Chemainus medical clinic on page 55 of our Thetis Island Phone Book is wrong. This was one of the casualties of the printers printing an earlier draft of the phone book rather than the final one, so please, if you haven't corrected it in your copy yet, do so now while you think of it.  The right number is 250-246-3261.  

And keep an eye on the Q for on-going corrections and updates.

Campfire Ban NOT Lifted on Thetis Island

The Province will be lifting the campfire ban in parts of the Coastal Region tomorrow, July 24th.  However, the CVRD in consultation with their Public Safety Manager and By-Law Enforcement Officer will NOT be lifting the campfire ban in the Cowichan Valley.  Nor will the TIVFD be lifting the campfire ban here on Thetis Island.

If you are travelling to other areas to camp, please consult the local area authorities for information.  The lifting of the ban in other areas will only be temporary.

Communion Service

There will be a Communion Service at Lucy Hayward's (246-2059), 21 Bella Vista, with Rev. Michael Wimmer, Wednesday July 30th at 4:30 pm. 

Pot luck supper to follow.

Look for the colourful, happy display, and maybe even a gypsy dancer.

The TIID is now accepting expressions of interested for the TIVFD Annual Appreciation Dinner.  The event will be held Saturday, November 8, 2014, at Forbes Hall. 

The catering contract requires:

Appetizers before dinner

Starter Course

Main Course

Desert

Coffee/Tea Service

Approximately 60-80 attendees.  Our budget is $20.00-$25.00/person, all in, gratuity included.

The successful applicant will be notified by August 31, 2014.  The final selection will be made on a combination of menu and price.

Does anyone remember who used to prepare and sell mixed spices on the island, especially Cajun spice mix?
