Some of the Little Island Aikikai members attended an Aikido seminar at UVic last weekend.
Several members will be testing for a new rank on Dec. 15th. Guest instructors and high level black belts have been invited to Thetis that same day as examiners and for our first ever on-islnad Aikido workshop. The community is welcome to attend. Testing is 9:30-10:30AM, workshops 10:50-1:00PM, followed by a light lunch for participants. For more information on Little Island Aikikai, click here.

The Thetis Island Community Fund Volunteer Board would like to thank all of you who supported our Annual October Fund Raising Campaign.
As of November 12th, close to $6,500 has been raised. This money supports many initiatives which improve the quality of life here on beautiful little Thetis Island. Contributions to the fund support: a wide variety of educational initiatives, yoga, aikido, Food Safe training, Thetis Island School programs as well as scholarships.
We support medical care and treatment such as our recent flu clinic as well as the new x ray machine at Chemanius Hospital. The Community Fund also provides support services for our seniors AND contributes to other charitable organizations that benefit Thetis Islanders such as the Thetis Island Community Associationn through a joint fundraiser.
Even though our official Fund raising campaign is over, we welcome contributions all year long – it’s not too late to make your contribution because every little bit makes a difference. You can make a financial contribution three ways, by cheque to the Thetis Island Community Fund, P.O. Box 12-14, Thetis Island, B.C., VOR 2YO, or if you donate annually to the United Way, please designate `Thetis Island Community Fund` on your United Way Form. Or, donate online through our website using the security and convenience of PayPal by clicking here.

You are invited to attend an exhibition and reception of collaborative art project Thetis Kora on Sunday December 2 from 3 to 5 pm Forbes Hall. There will be an artist’s talk at 3:30 in conjunction with the exhibit.
Earlier this year a group of women on Thetis gathered together to embark on an art action project the goal of which was to celebrate the earth, women and the interconnectedness of all life. The end goal of the project was to create an artwork which embodied both our concern about the current erosion of environmental and social policies and our passion for this planet and life. The installation of art works and the accompanying artists book (which expands about 21 feet long) will be on display for the community to view. We welcome all. Refreshments provided.
