Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 11:18AM We are looking for a dog sitter from July 5-7th for our 15 pound, 6 year old Boston terrier "Miles." He's very much a lap dog, loves people and really easy going when he's the solo dog. Smaller dogs he's usually fine with (just excited as dogs can be) but larger dogs I can not guarantee the same. Otherwise he's well house trained and easy on a leash.
We are visiting Thetis Island July 5-7th for a wedding and after plan to explore the surrounding area. Miles would love to come along for the second half of the trip but can not stay with us while attending the wedding on Thetis.
Any suggestions for canine accommodations would be greatly appreciated!

Native Plant Gardening Workshop Sunday April 6
Join native plant gardening specialist, Pat Johnston, for a presentation on Native Plant Gardening at 1:30 on Sunday, April 6 at Forbes Hall. Pat will talk about the benefits of using native plants on our properties, show photographs of native plants, discuss how to garden with native plants as well as show photographs of native plant gardens. Pat likes to work informally so besides looking at pictures of native plants come prepared to ask questions and discuss the joys of gardening with native plants.
Pat is a Native Plant Gardening Consultant who for the past fourteen years has been helping private and public gardeners incorporate native plants into their landscapes. She has also partnered with Victoria Capital Regional District’s Water Department, Swan Lake Nature Sanctuary and other community organizations to facilitate over 200 Native Plant Gardening Workshops. Pat, along with other gardeners, developed a native plant demonstration garden in her own yard and works in various native plant gardens in the Victoria region. Pat’s passion about our native flora inspires others to want to use them in our gardens.
This workshop is free. Everyone welcome.

Friday, April 4, 2014 at 1:12PM I have been keeping track of rainfall (as many other folks on the Island do as well) at our property on Foster Point Road for over 5 years.
I thought some of you might be interested in what the numbers look like. All readings are in millimetres (mm), and include an estimate for snow. I will do another summary at the end of the second quarter (June), so stay tuned.
