Friday, December 6, 2013 at 8:31AM The missing baler part has been recovered. Much appreciation goes to the e-spokes crew for keeping us all in touch with one another.
Generally speaking, a huge amount of energy is saved in our community with this important communication link.
Many thanks,
Ernie
Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 5:29PM Over the next few months you may be seeing some activity taking place down at the cemetery. We are into the early stages of planning the new portion of land donated by Capernwray Torchbearers. This land is to be developed as cemetery space providing interment options for the community well into the future.
In order to facilitate the Community Studio planners and the Board in coming up with the best plan, a general clean up of debris and blackberries was needed. A great thanks goes out to those who volunteered to help with the task: Norm Kasting, Wendy and Glen Andison, Doreen Liley , Dave Steen, Vicki Walker, Myla and Steve Frankel, Pam Lee and Gurk Sarioglu. It was a beautiful fall day perfect for the work needing to be done. Laughter, song , chatter and chain saw all in full chorus made it a wonderful community work day.
Please watch for more news regarding this new project for the cemetery after the new year.

Thetis Island Winter Solstice Community Pot-luck Feast & Celebration
December 21st, 2013
Forbes Hall
Doors open at 5:30PM
Candle Lighting Ceremony at 6PM
We invite you to join us again for this year's winter solstice community pot-luck feast and celebration. Please bring something for the pot-luck (and include a small card with a list of ingredients)
Coffee, tea and juice will be provided.
We would be delighted if you would share a piece of music, a song or two, a poem, a dance or a story to celebrate this magical time of year, the longest night and the return of the light.
Our theme this year is "Stars", and as always we'd love to see some starry, shiny, glittery winter costumes so dress up or simply bring your shining selves.
We are using tickets again this year so please get yours by December 18th at the latest as we reached our limit last year.
There is no charge for tickets - however we really appreciate donations to help cover our start-up costs.
Tickets available at the upcoming Holiday Bazaar.
Also available by emailing Janice Young jeyoung@uvic.ca
Or contacting any of us on the Solstice planning committee!
Janice Young, Stephanie Cottell, Dawn Gordon, Carol Sowerby & Alisha Rennie
Look forward to seeing you there!
Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 5:24AM The false floor attachment for the baler has gone missing from the recycle depot. Made of plate steel, black in colour, approx 2 feet by 3 feet by 1 foot thick, weighing over 100 pounds. Perhaps someone thought it was part of the free store and had a use for it at home. Hopefully it will magically re-appear.
Thanks,
Ernie
