Meeting of the Thetis Island Marine Association (TIMA), Tuesday, February 6

TIMA is a volunteer advisory board, advocating for safe and equitable mooring buoy management on Thetis Island.

We have been working on mooring buoy registration and mapping moorings.
Moorings are required to have proper markings [name and Phone#] to be compliant with Transport Canada regulations -several moorings do not comply and some appear to be abandoned.

We anticipate more activity in Telegraph Harbour. We are meeting to discuss strategies to keep Telegraph Harbour safe and accessible for anchorage and navigation.

The Public is Welcome.

Please Don't Shoot at Our Sheep!

Thursday late morning, we had a report of a person (wearing a red jacket), south of us, shooting an air gun at our sheep!  

While the sheep were missed (we hope), the bullets did hit our barn close to where people were standing and close to our propane-fuelled generator! 

Luckily our grandchildren were not playing at the farm at the time.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time. We have also noted shooting at geese as they fly over and at a Peregrine falcon that loves our long driveway for his dinner table.

We are all blessed by the creatures that inhabit our Island including ourselves.

Please stop shooting at our sheep and farm and at the wonderful creatures that enjoy it, including our family!

You need a second shot within 6 months of the first to have the best response.

Bingo February 23 (note the new times)

Hello everyone, Bingo this month is scheduled for February 23rd. We are starting and ending at new times and expanding the agenda to include a light meal. This is to make it possible for interested Penelakut bingo players to join in the fun.

New Start Time: 5:00pm (4:40pm ferry from Penelakut lands at 5:00pm)

5:00-5:30pm - light meal

5:30-7:30pm - Bingo

7:30pm race for ferry (7:50pm ferry from Thetis lands at Penelakut at 8:10pm)

For those new to our bingo. We will play 10 games; 9 partial boards and a final blackout game. Cards are 25 cents each, with the pot being 100% of the amount collected.

Snacks and beverages are available.

Ask anyone who has come to the bingos, it is fun. An all-ages event that provides an opportunity to meet other islanders.

Available Storage Container on Island?

I am needing to move some furniture out of house due to reno (doing all floors in whole house). I have a garage, but I am now thinking we may need more room.

The quote to bring over a storage container from off island is pretty high. Does anyone have another suggestion? I was kind of wondering if anyone had a moveable container on island. The main cost was for the moving of the container. (close to $1000 each way with fuel charge and GST); the rental was cheap. $150 for 4 weeks.
