Wetlands Seminar

Restoring Wetlands and Streams to Clean Water and Control Flooding

Wednesday, January 7th, 7pm at the Cowichan Estuary Nature Centre

Tom Biebighauser will present on how wetlands and streams are being built across North America to clean stormwater and to reduce flooding.  The talk starts with simple rain-gardens and ends with advanced wetland and stream restoration projects.  The presentation contains many examples from BC.

Tom  Biebighauser has restored over 1,700 wetlands across British Columbia, Ontario, and in 21-States.  He has studied drainage for 32-years, learning from contractors who spent their lives destroying wetlands. Tom teaches practical, hands-on workshops across North America where participants learn about wetland restoration by becoming involved in the design and construction of naturally appearing and functioning wetlands.  He has written 3-books about wetland restoration, and instructs online and field college courses on how to restore wetlands.

Visit www.wetlandrestorationandtraining.com for information about the techniques he is using, and the training opportunities that are available.
