Burchell Hill Litter

It has come to our attention that a group of individuals were having a gathering of some sort up on Burchell Hill and left quite a bit of garbage after they left. Unfortunately, one of the other members of our community who regularly walks the trail had to clean up the mess that was left behind. As this property is private and Thetis Islanders have been given permission to use it, it would certainly be implied that you would respect the land.

In addition to the mess up on the top of the hill, numerous cigarette butts were left all along the path. Yes, we have had some rain but certainly not enough to totally dampen the ground in this forest. We find it hard to believe that anyone would even think about smoking on this trail or any trail on Thetis for that matter in light of the extreme dry weather conditions that we have experienced this past summer. We hope that those who left the butts and mess and still use this Burchell Hill trail would have the decency not to destroy the goodwill for everyone else who uses it.
