What is the Blue Dot Movement?
Now in its second year, the Blue Dot Movement is a country-wide lobby group of citizens like you and me who are asking all levels of government to recognize the right of Canadians to a healthy environment. The ultimate goal is to achieve an amendment to the Charter of Rights and Freedoms to guarantee the right to breathe clean air, drink clean water and consume safe food.
The Blue Dot Movement is a project of the David Suzuki Foundation. It is supported by a strong network of partners, including media, academia, environmentalists, activist organizations, and other groups.
To learn more about this grassroots campaign, visit www.bluedot.ca. In particular, I recommend watching the video on the home page. Against a backdrop of dramatic images, it presents an eloquent and persuasive case for recognizing environmental rights at the same priority level as the fundamental freedoms and democratic rights now protected by the Charter.
