Trust Council Passes Blue Dot Declaration
Friday, March 13, 2015 at 8:33AM We did it! I am delighted to let you know that the Blue Dot Declaration in support of the right to a healthy environment was passed unanimously by Trust Council on Wed.
Peter and Jean Gelwicks of Salt Spring Island gave a short presentation. There were only a couple of questions. Bill from Salt Spring and myself handed out Blue Dot label pins to all the Trustees as a reminder. During the New Business session of Trust Council, Tony Law made a motion to pass supporting the Blue Dot Declaration. After a few trustees spoke in favor of the motion, it passed unanimously. They also passed the motion to support the declaration at the Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) Conference which the Trust attends every year. The UBCM passing this Declaration will be the next important step in getting this initiative closer to its goal of being entrenched in the Constitution.
At that point our Premier Christy Clark will find it hard to ignore. It was because of all your support that this passed.

Thank you Thetis Islanders for your support of this great initiative.
