Robbie Burns Night 2016

Once again, TIMA hosted a wonderful, fun-filled evening of music and mayhem to celebrate Robert Burns, Scotland’s best-loved bard. From speeches to skits and the partaking of a “wee dram”, the night was filled with frivolity. A huge thank you to Elaine Vallis for her spirited Highland Dancing and to Peter Leckie for “Piping in the Haggis”. Once again Don and his kitchen crew outdid themselves with their “Bill O’ Fare” – you haven’t lived till you’ve tried the “Tipsy Laird Trifle”!
Donna Stadt led her talented musical group in some traditional Scottish tunes accompanied by Lynn Hunter on piano. During the event, the kilt policewoman (Gloria Taylor) arrived and surprisingly enough handed out a few tickets!
The Scottish Country Dancers wowed us with their intricate formations and the McSalish Gypsies treated us to a proud and colorful “Female Warrior” dance. In the words of Andy Keir, “Gypsy dancing at a Burns Night......definitely a first!” “We should go down in the Guinness Book of World Records.”
Cheers to Gerry Smith, Andy Keir, and Simone Luckham for making it all possible! A big thanks also to Helen Bird for her lovely decorations and to all who helped in one way or another.
