A Local Weather Station?

Thetis Island Elementary School parents and teacher are discussing the idea of a acquiring a weather station, which would be a valuable learning resource for the school that could also benefit our community. Our learning objective is to provide a teaching tool that is instrumental to help connect our children with their natural environment, while also offering hands on learning activities to build strong foundations in applied sciences and math.

We want to explore the possibility of partnering with other community groups and individuals who might be interested in supporting this project and accessing local reliable, real time weather data. If you are interested to support, advise or be involved at this “early idea” stage, please send an email to ron_bannister@telus.net and we will include you in a preliminary meeting to discuss the idea further. All interest welcome and appreciated!
