Book Launch ~ Gary Geddes

If anyone happens to be in Victoria on Thursday, Feb 23, please feel welcome to attend a special book launch for "Medicine Unbundled" authored by Dr. Gary Geddes.

The event will include brief presentations by Gary, Songhees Elder Joan Morris and Dr. Nancy Turner as well as an opportunity for discussion and book purchase. Released to coincide with the Year of Reconciliation (2017), Medicine Unbundled looks at the history and legacy of segregated Indigenous health care in Canada, the lesser-known twin to the residential school system.

Medicine Unbundled recounts the stories of Indigenous elders across the country – the result is a testament to survival, perseverance, and the power of memory to keep history alive and contribute to a more open and just future.

100% of the royalties from Medicine Unbundled will support the Sellemah Scholarship, which will benefit an Indigenous student in the Faculty of Social Sciences at UVic.

Date: Thursday, February 23, 2017

Time: 3:00 p.m.to 4:00 p.m.

Location: UVic’s Engineering & Computer Science Building (ECS)  Room 124

I'm proud to be involved in co-organizing this event for Gary and Joan through the Centre for Global Studies and I hope some of our Thetis island community can come to celebrate with us.
