Near Miss ~ Tuesday Night

Tuesday evening an unthinking, uninformed and undeniably dangerous person(s) set a sky lantern (a paper lantern with an open flame) adrift over Thetis Island.  It came to rest on a residential roof and very fortunately for the home owner and his neighbourhood, it self-extinguished and he discovered it in the morning.  Sky lanterns are prohibited!  If you happen to see one in the sky, call 911 immediately and try to keep your eye on where it is going.  There are many, many instances of catastrophic fires caused by these cheap “party” items.
