Information re Anchorage Concerns Thetis

ACThetis (Anchorage Concerns Thetis) meeting held last night at Zdenek and Joan Brich’s place. The highlights of this meeting are as follows:

·      There has been a new coalition formed between the many neighbouring Anti-Anchorage advocacy groups in the Southern Gulf Islands – Coastal Community Alliance (Gabriola, Cowichan Bay, Plumper Sound, Valdes Island Conservancy, Saltair);

·      ACThetis will be organizing a petition that will be canvassed around Thetis Island for signatures and submitted to our MP Alistair MacGregor to raise awareness and augment support in the House of Commons (Ottawa);

·      ACThetis would like to encourage all Thetis Islanders to go to the Let’s Talk - OPP (Ocean Protection Plan) website (https://letstalktransportation.ca/OPP) and take advantage of this opportunity to provide comments and suggestions to this OPP, including support for the ACT position of NO Anchorages/Parking of freighters in the Southern Gulf Islands;

·      All future meetings held by ACThetis will be made available to the public (dates, location and times will be posted on espokes the week before – next scheduled is June 21, 2018.

Further information can be found at ACThetis.com, Twitter: @ACThetis, watch for details for the up and coming public information session.
