Social Gatherings at Thetis Island Community Dock

Several complaints regarding recent social group gatherings at the Thetis Island Community Dock have been received by the Fire Chief and then were appropriately forwarded to the Thetis Island Port Commission.

Oversight for the Thetis Island Community Dock is the responsibility of the Thetis Island Port Commission and NOT the Thetis Island Volunteer Fire Department. The Thetis Island Volunteer Fire Department has always appreciated the full support of the regular dock users when a medical evacuation from the dock is required.

These days, all of us living on Thetis Island are very concerned about the COVID-19 virus, and how social distancing can greatly reduce the risk for our vulnerable population.

I strongly urge those who wish to occupy the Community Dock as a place to visit during these trying times, to follow the Provincial safety recommendations.

Port Commission Member

Andy Lamb, 250-246-9770.
