Happy Earth Week

It's Earth Week, a celebration of the earth and nature, culminating in Earth Day on April 22 each year. To acknowledge the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, ThINC had been planning a grand opening event of the new trail through the Fairyslipper Forest Nature Reserve, however social distancing requirements meant that we've had to postpone the opening until a later date.

As an alternative, we encourage you to tune in online to a special series of Earth Week talks organized by Creatively United Community called EarthFest Live 2020: Creative Solutions for a New World. All the speakers are from Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands with a different topic each day. Thetis Island's own Katia Bannister will be one of the guest speakers on Wednesday during an event titled: Creating a Liveable Future - A Youth Perspective.  The live feed runs from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m each day. You can find information about the series and register at creativelyunited.org/earthfest-live/

We hope you can get outside and appreciate Thetis Island's natural environment during this special week.
