Propane Campfire Appliance Season Now
Thursday, July 30, 2020 at 10:12AM It’s propane campfire appliance season starting August 1st. No solid fuel campfire (wood, briquettes etc) permits will be given out. Compared to last year, we had more than six extra weeks of MODERATE Hazard before we shot up to HIGH Hazard last week.
HIGH Hazard means all high risk activities with spark-producing equipment in or near the forest or grasses must be completed before 11 a.m. and a two-hour fire watch posted. Mowing, bucking, sawing, chipping etc. are restricted to morning hours.
When we move up to EXTREME Fire Hazard, and that will be very soon, ALL high risk activities must cease until the Fire Danger Rating drops.
At this time no fireworks, rockets, tiki torches, sky lanterns etc. are permitted. No smoking allowed on community trails, the school grounds or cemetery. It is a criminal offence to discard or eject burning materials on roadways (I.e. tossing cigarette butts).
