Slow Down

Please SLOW DOWN ON OUR ROADS!
Around that blind corner or over that little hill you will find children, horses, baby strollers, visitors, walkers, dogs, deer, ponies, cats, joggers, cyclists and other speeding drivers over the center line.
Day or night, sun or rain. T
he maximum speed on the island is 50 km/h.
That’s for the straight stretches with good forward visibility. The rest of our windy, narrow roads with little or no shoulders deserve a slower, more cautious rate of travel.
If you arent’t in a big red truck with lights and sirens, you really don’t need to put others at risk for that extra 20 seconds you think you are saving. The number of “near misses” on our roads is rising.
The First Responders don’t want to meet you or your victims by accident.
