It's Drier Than You May Think!

On Monday the Duncan fire department, the Maple Bay fire department, and North Cowichan South End fire department all had emergency responses to brush fires.

These were started by yard waste piles gone bad.  Please be mindful of the wind regardless of the GOOD Venting Index and remember that yard waste fires must be attended while burning and extinguished before sunset.  Burn responsibly by considering environmental conditions and have your tools and water close by.  YOU are the first on scene if your 3metre wide burn pile gets out of hand.  And call 911 immediately for fire department back up.
