TIVFD: Are you Willing to Help?

We are graduating six Thetis Island Fire Department members from Rookie to Fire Fighter at the end of February.

We have lots of room for new volunteers and would welcome your interest in joining our team. Equipment and training to professional North American Fire Fighter Standards is supplied. You do NOT have to be young and muscled. (One third of our members are women and all members meet the standard.). You just need to be reasonably fit and willing to learn some new skills to serve our community.

Please let us answer any questions or concerns that might be holding you back from applying. 252-0544 or 252-0228

We have a great team whose ages span six decades, so don’t think you are too old or too young to join our team (Junior Fire Fighters are 15-18 years old).

We are especially looking forward to applicants living on the “other side” of Moore Hill…Engine 2 lives in the Pilkey Hall on that side of the hill and we need an active member able to respond from that side to drive the Engine to drill nights, etc.

The commitment is eight hours per month (drill nights are 2 hours on Wednesday nights) and your willingness to carry a pager to respond to emergencies when you are available.

A Class 5 licence (all vehicles are automatic and Class 5, no air brakes) and a criminal record check (for working with children and vulnerable adults) are required.

Fire Chief J. Caldbeck
