Reminder: March 13th, 1-3pm Advanced Care Planning

On March 13th (after Soups On) Marcela from Island Health will be coming to Thetis Island to host a session on Advanced Care Planning.

·      The difference between Power of Attorney (POA) and Health Care Representation.

·      The difference between an Enduring POA and one that is not designated as such.

·      The difference between Health Care Representation Agreements under Section 7 (RA7) and Section 9 (RA9) of the Health Care Representation Agreement Act.

·      The difference between Health Care Representation Agreements and what used to be known as a Do Not Resuscitate Order (DNR), and what is now known as the Medical Orders Scope of Treatment (MOST).

·      Basic Wills and the difference between designating an executor and a POA.

·      Which professionals are needed for what.

·      What people need in their circumstances and why.

·      What happens if they haven’t done some or all of the above and something happens.
