Margaret Armstrong, Celebration of Life, Thursday 27 June

Margaret Armstrong passed away peacefully after 92 wonderful years on Sunday, 26 May 2024, in Duncan, B.C.

Born in a rural area once called Saskatchewan, Manitoba with a land section number on her birth certificate, she is preceded in death by loving husband Harry Armstrong, daughter Randi Armstrong and brother Jack Bergen.

Marg and Harry raised their family in Burnaby, B.C., for 28 years and spent many summers on Thetis Island where they eventually retired and enjoyed their final years. During their 40 plus years on Thetis they both will always be remembered for their work with the Thetis Island Volunteer Fire Dept. Marg cut the ribbon along with retired Fire Chief Pete Reese for the grand opening of the new fire hall. Marge also had a book published about the TIVFD called “A History of the Thetis Island Volunteer Fire Department”

She loved to spend time with family, friends and she will be fondly remembered by her son Brent (Barbara Armstrong), granddaughters Brittany and Ashley (Brandon) and great grandsons Daryl, Bodie and Dane, respectively. Marg also had a special place in her heart for childhood friend, Betty, and best friend, Merry.

The family would like to thank the staff of Dove Hill Village in Chemainus for their compassion and kindness.

She will be deeply missed by her brother Ted (Dawn) as well as nieces and nephews.

Donations would be gratefully appreciated to Marge’s favourite charity “Wildlife B.C.”

A celebration of life will be held for Marg on Thursday, 27 June, 2:00pm at Forbes Hall Community Centre on Thetis Island.
