Personnel Changes at the Fire Department

Effective 1 June 2024, there have been some changes in senior officers at the Thetis Island Volunteer Fire Department.
After providing 15 years of committed and professional service to the department and the community, Deputy Chief Peter Luckham has resigned from the Fire Department. Peter's resignation followed a period of careful consideration in order to support a successful succession plan within the department. It also allows Peter more time with his growing family and the myriad other interests that he has.
Peter joined the Fire Department in 2009 and was appointed Deputy Chief and training officer in 2016. Peter has been relentless in moving the membership towards the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1001 standard for fire fighters. This standard applies to all fire fighters whether they are in a Career Fire Department, or a Volunteer Fire Department likes ours.
All of us associated with the Fire Department and the Improvement District give huge thanks to Peter for his dedication to the fire service. We wish him well in his future endeavors.
Congratulations to Fire Captain Chad Kerr for taking on the role of Deputy Chief. Chad joined the department in 2014 and was promoted to Fire Captain in 2018. Chad has been a stalwart of the department since joining and is excited and keen to take on his new role.
We also congratulate Fire Lieutenant John Gall on his promotion to Fire Captain and Fire Fighter Norm Kasting on assuming the duties of Fire Lieutenant.
Finally, our thanks to the entire Thetis Island Volunteer Fire Department for providing excellent service to the community.
