Refundable is Not the Same as Recyclable
Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at 7:44AM Our Thetis Elementary school community is continually thankful for the generosity of our community in the form of the “refundable” containers program. Every year we are able to enhance the school program with the funds that are raised by collecting these containers.
However, this program does not work well when community members continue to include their “recycling” in with their donations of refundable containers. Every week there is significant amounts of recycling left at the refundable container, which then has to be separated, and privately hauled off island.
While we understand it could be frustrating for community members to have to deal with your own recycling, we kindly ask that you please do not bring recycling to the refundable container and put this strain on a program that is so integral to our students and teachers.
