Time to Trim

The weather looks to be about to dry up again, so this is a great time to inspect your driveway and trim your branches overhead and on the road sides to the specifications laid out in the Thetis Island Improvement District Service Capacity Policies regulations.

Driveway widths must be maintained to a minimum 12 feet (3.66 meters) and the height be maintained to a minimum of 15 feet (4.6 meters), cleared of any obstacles for Emergency vehicles.

If you have a driveway gate it must open inwards and either remain unlocked or keys permanently placed with the fire department. (If you use a combination lock you must provide the fire department with the combination.)

Cover your trimmed branches from the October rains or chip them.

No Yard Waste burning until November 1st. Fire Permits are not required after November 1st.

You need to check the Ministry of Environment’s Venting Index for a GOOD day to burn after November 1st. Thetis Island falls within the South Vancouver Island’s HIGH Smoke Sensitivity Zone.
