Coastal Fire Centre Weather Forecast

We are in EXTREME Fire Danger Class. On the Wildfire Maps we are now in RED. No outdoor fires permitted (except for propane appliances).

Weather Forecast

SYNOPSIS: A ridge of high-pressure continues to be anchored offshore in the Pacific and will stay there for the next several days. We continue to see a SW flow over the Coastal Fire Centre with a slight increase in winds Friday afternoon. Temperatures will continue to be above seasonal for most of CoFC with many spots in the south into the 30s. With those hotter temperatures minimum RH values will be in the 20-30% range for those southern areas. Low pressure will run along the eastern edge of the ridge of high pressure keeping any precipitation east of CoFC. There is some potential for weak thunderstorms to move into the Pemberton zone Friday afternoon, any lightning will be wet.

OUTLOOK: Saturday to Monday: The current pattern holds steady into and through the weekend. A SW flow overall continues with a return to seasonal temperatures which will continue into next week. This temperature drop will also give the fire centre an increase in minimum RH. Winds will be light to moderate through the weekend. It continues to be mostly dry, with a chance of some thunderstorms or just rain developing along the eastern edge of CoFC Saturday thru Monday. If these turn out to be storms, it’s expected to produce wet lightning. It’s more likely it will just be some light showers with minimal accumulation.
