Campfire Ban Lifted, Moderate Hazard Rating

There has been enough rain on Thetis that we have dropped to Moderate Hazard Rating which means the campfire ban is lifted as of Monday September 29th. Anyone wishing to have a campfire must apply to the Thetis Island Volunteer Fire Department (TIVFD) by sending an email to permits@thetisislandfire.ca and providing the following information:

· Your Name and Lot #

· Lot # of proposed fire

· Contact phone number(s)

· Confirmation that you read and accepted the restrictions

· Date of campfire

A response will be provided within the day. Note that permits for campfires are required until the end of October. Further information can be found on the Fire Permits Page on the TIFVD website.

Refer to the BC Government website for requirements and obligations regarding campfires. Tips on campfire safety can be found in the BC Government campfire brochure.
