Fire Danger Hazard Moved in the Right Direction
Friday, May 8, 2026 at 11:58AM We moved up to HIGH Hazard last Saturday, which meant that High Hazard Activities had to be restricted starting last Tuesday this week Thanks to the recent cloud cover, higher humidity and a higher dew point, we have moved down to MODERATE Hazard once again.
By regulation, we have to hold for three days in MODERATE before we can rescind the restriction on High Hazard Activities. This means that starting this SATURDAY, May 9th, the outdoor work activity restrictions are off and you no longer have to cease your mowing, chain sawing, excavating, etc by one o’clock.
MODERATE Hazard is still a hazard though, so please be careful about creating sparks etc. Call 911 if you see any columns of smoke.
As per the Provincial Ban, ALL OUTDOOR FIRES ARE PROHIBITED UNTIL OCTOBER 31st. This includes campfires. (Approved propane campfire appliances are allowed).
Let’s all hope we can keep this moderate weather for a while (good for growing peas and lettuce) before the Fire Danger Hazard Rating rises again.
