• Conditions remain hot and dry Friday. A risk of thunderstorms and increased winds are expected to develop in the late afternoon.
• Cooler conditions expected over the weekend, with some precipitation gradually progressing south.
• Another warming and drying trend expected to rebuild by early next week.

Note: those claps of distant thunder heard around 5 pm Thursday contained a lightning strike that started a wildfire in the hills between the Shawnigan Lake fire department and the Malahat fire department. BC Wildfire Service also responded, and those two fire departments are assisting.
