Family Fun Day - And the Winners Are...!
Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at 7:39AM A huge thank you to the Thetis Island Community Fund for putting on a wonderful Family Fun Day and for having us along! Our two activities - Mystery Tea Tasting and Tree Ring Counting - were a hit, with well over 50 people taking on each challenge throughout the day.
Mystery Tea Tasting
Once again, our herbal teas proved a worthy match for even the most seasoned sniffers!

Tree Ring Counting
The section of tree round on display showed 307 rings, but this was only a portion of the full trunk. The tree was an old growth Western Red Cedar, closer to 700-900 years old (or older!). Let that sink in - this tree was already ancient when Europeans first arrived on this coast.
