Improve Yourself Fitness

Improve Yourself is a twice-weekly exercise class to help with not only upper body but also balance, stretching and light cardio. This class is for all ages and fitness levels, but our aim is to improve activity for those 50+.

Coffee is always on before and after exercise.

We will be starting up on Monday January 8th from 9:15 to 10:00.

Come with a sense of humour and loose fitting clothes.

Punt/Skiff/Jon Boat Wanted

The Fire Dept. needs a small, lightweight punt/skiff/Jon boat (flat-bottomed would be great) donated or loaned to us for the winter to have on Stand-by at the hall in case of an unfortunate pond-ice event.  It needs to be small to fit into the back of a pickup.  Thanks!

Thetis Island Marina ~ Holiday Hours

The TIVFD thanks the Local Emergency Response Neighbourhood Captains and their designates for checking on our community's vulnerable residents during the "mini disaster" of the past few days.  Some areas had power out for over sixty hours during the darkest part of the year, with cold and snow and closed roads.  Even the 911 phone service was down for several hours.  The TIVFD relies upon LERN to check on neighbours during this kind of event as the Fire Dept. attends to emergency duties. 

And a reminder to all: in the front of our local phone book you will find lots of info on LERN, and great tips on preplanning for power outage, snowstorms, fires etc.

Post Office Open Today 9 - 5

With the recent power outages on Thetis Island the packages and parcels piled up. I was just ready to print out labels but the power went off again Thursday late afternoon.

If you are expecting a parcel please come on down or call me at the Post Office (250 246-3464) I will be there from 9 to 5 on Friday.

Remember Friday is the last day to pick up packages before Christmas.

Christmas Eve Service

Hi there,

Because Christmas Eve falls on a Sunday this year the Thetis Island Community Church will forgo their usual Sunday morning service, and instead invites the community to an hour of Christmas Scripture, songs, and stories beginning at 7:30 that night (Sunday).

Please stay afterwards to wish each other a Merry Christmas and partake in some refreshments.

We wish all of you a very Merry Christmas as we celebrate our Saviour's birth and may God bless you richly in the year to come.
