The Historical Cookbook Display will be Coming Soon

Did you know that there have been three Thetis Island Community Cookbooks published over the years as well as several cookbooks written by individual Thetis Island residents?

The History Booth at the entrance of Forbes Hall will soon have all of them on display along with other interesting recipes, fun memories, and heritage items kindly loaned by Island Families.

In the meantime, when you are at Forbes Hall be sure to look at the historical Telephone exhibit which will soon disappear as all the rare and wonderful old artifacts will be returning to their owners homes.

We send heartfelt gratitude to all those who shared their telephone knowledge, with special thanks to Fred Clark, Tim French, Bill Dickie, Frank English and the Hunter Family for also preserving and protecting these precious historical artifacts and generously loaning them.

It was most interesting to actually see these old telephone items in person and understand how they worked. It was also especially enlightening to learn about all the extraordinary challenges of early communications on Thetis Island over the years, helping us to appreciate the amazing advancements since.
