THETIS ISLAND LIVESTOCK COOPERATIVE

In partnership with the Portal, Jollity Farm is introducing a new initiative to create a livestock co-op; where members can partake in the experience of raising livestock, while enjoying shares in the end product. All animals will be raised ethically, on-pasture and in harmony with organic farming principles, in a closed-loop system aimed at encouraging healthy soil regeneration. The livestock co-op will expand from pigs, to milking goats, to chickens and more.... If you'd like to learn more or express interest in attending a meeting to discuss, please let us know. Contact Elisabeth or Noah @ jollityFARM 250.416.6736 or info@jollityfarm.ca

Introducing Wonder and Wilma, the mulefoot hogs.

This breed is 1 of 3, critically rare breeds listed with the Livestock Conservancy. https://livestockconservancy.org/index.php/heritage/internal/mulefoot   Wonder & Wilma will be enjoying life at the Portal, rotovating a large pasture as a future site for permaculture gardens & orchards.

If you are visiting the Nature House, we do encourage you to say 'hello' to the pigs. They are social and love to hear a friendly voice.

Coming Soon ~ Belly Dance Basics!

Belly Dance is an activity for all ages – from 6 – 96!  It is a wonderful way to get fit, flexible, improve your memory, meet friends, and have fun!  This class is designed for beginners and advanced dancers alike. Learn basic belly dance moves and then use what you’ve learned to dance to a Shakira song.

A little about me (your instructor)……

I have been belly dancing for 13 years during which time I took lessons in different styles of belly dance and have performed solo and with various troupes.  I am a certified Belly Dance Trainer and have taught for 7 years in Chilliwack, for the International Baccalaureate Society in Langley, in southern California, and of course, Thetis Island! My passion is Gypsy Style – a fusion of folk, Roma, and Raqs Sharqui.

It would be delightful to have some newcomers join my class starting Oct 23 (Monday) and every Thursday evening (7:30-9:30) thereafter at our Community Hall. The cost is $10 drop-in per class – come for 1 or come for all!  Wear bling and bring a long, full skirt.  Hip coin belts available.  Ole!
