Dear Community,
It is my great delight to sure with you that our own beloved Ann Eriksson has been recognized with the Land Trust Alliance of BC's (LTABC) Outstanding Volunteer award for her work on the Fairyslipper Forest acquisition project. Ann has put so much time and energy into this initiative through her grant writing; coordinating and hosting biologist visits for species surveys. She also acts as lead communicator with our project partners, the Islands Trust Fund and the Cowichan Community Land Trust. Ann's unwavering commitment to Nature helps to keep the rest of us on the ThINC board motivated and inspired. We're not quite sure how she does it all, but we are endlessly grateful! Don't miss your opportunity to congratulate Ann in person on November 13, at 'In Concert; a Celebration of Music, Literature, Art, and Nature'! (2-5 pm, Heneage House)
I was honoured to attend the awards dinner this week at the LTABC seminar and accept the award on Ann's behalf. I wanted to share with you all what I heard over and over again at the seminar. The Thetis Island community itself is the focus of so much positive attention right now for your amazing generosity and support of the Fairyslipper project! People are blown away by the fact that such a small population base has pledged so much make this ambitious vision a reality.
We have eight more months to go and there is still much work ahead, but clearly this community is made of special stuff and we can achieve amazing things together.
With joy and gratitude,
Steph Cottell

Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 8:36PM We all know we have to put our clocks back one hour at 2 a.m. Sunday morning. But why wait ’til then to change the smoke alarm battery?
Do it now, and sleep through the night.

Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 12:53PM The next veterinary visit to the island will be on Wednesday, November 2nd. Please contact 250 436 0045 or erskine2814@outlook.com for an appointment.

Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 12:52PM A good friend of ours, Miss Jerney De Vries, is coming to reside on Thetis for January/February. She is from Rotterdam, Netherlands, full of fun and very excited about her sojourn at Steve & Myla's.
The cost for such a visit is considerable for her budget subsequently she wishes to enquire if she could borrow/hire a vehicle from one of the islanders. She has a 'clean' license.
