Card Gala ~ Kids Welcome

Hey kids.  Did you know that if you are age 10 or older you can bring your mom to the Christmas Card Gathering at Forbes Hall on November 14 from 1-4 pm for FREE?  That’s right, you and your mom can work together making awesome cards for relatives and friends.  That’s right, two for the price of one and the joy of creating with your family…priceless.

No kids, no problem, you’re just as welcome, and there are only a few spaces left for this fun event!

Spend an afternoon creating a dozen elegant handmade cards…four each of three unique designs.  Tea, treats, door prizes, and music accompany the card making.  No experience is necessary as everything will be precut for you and all materials supplied in your kit.  You only need to bring a pair of scissors and a tape runner.  Open to everyone…no registration fee.

Materials kit $40 payable to the instructor.

Contact Carol Swann 250 246 3699 or seaspray@telus.net to save a spot.

Flu Shot Clinic Door Prize & Thanks

Kudos to the TIVFD Auxiliary for the great coffee service spread on Wednesday morning for the TIVFD Annual Flu Shot Clinic.  And "Thank You" to all whom attended and waited patiently for the late ferry to arrive so the vaccinations could begin!

The winner of the double smoke alarm door prize drawn after the Flu Shot Clinic is John Gordon.

The TIVFD reminds you that if you sleep with your door closed you should have a working smoke alarm in your bedroom.  If the door is normally open, have one in the hallway just outside.

Cat Needs Home

Spayed, short haired female black cat available for immediate adoption.

She is aged four and will need a single cat household. Very affectionate but was recently signed over from the original owner for stress related cystitis. This was found to be a consequence of being in a multi cat household in which she felt threatened by the other cats. Since being fostered within the practice she has recovered and shows the potential for normailty hereon providing she is the only cat within the household.

Please contact either erskine2814@outlook.com or Prevost Veterinary Clinic, Duncan.

I am a 65 year old single woman looking for a place to stay on Thetis Island from dec. to mar.  I am very clean and quiet.  recently quit my B&b business.  now i would just love to spend time close to my friends, Ken and Genny Redman on Thetis Island.  They will be happy to give me a glowing reference.  call them at: 250-210-3087  I would be happy to take care of your place while you are gone to warmer places for the winter, or rent your summer home when you are back in the city.  My phone number is 1-250-968-4356.  My email address is: dunsterarlene@gmail.com

Thank you

Coats for Kids

Warm your heart this winter knowing that you’re keeping someone else warm!

Our daughter (Katia)’s school is participating in the “Coats for Kids” program run by Lalum’utul’ Smun’eem (Cowichan Tribes Child & Family Services) in Duncan. The program assists community members who may not have the resources to keep themselves or their children warm this winter. They are looking for new or gently used jackets and coats for children 0 to 19 years of age. The coats will be professionally cleaned to redistribute. Although they are placing emphasis on kids, they always have requests from adults so they will also gladly accept adults sized coats that are in good condition.

If you would like to contribute to “Coats for Kids” this year, the Bannister family is willing to collect coats on Thetis until Tuesday Nov 3 (to be transported via the first ferry on Nov 4) or you can contact Garrett Elliott (Cowichan Tribes Councillor) directly to make your own drop off arrangements garrettelliott@me.com

If this opportunity doesn’t fit with your ability to give, stay tuned! Information about other local winter food and clothing donation programs will be shared as they become available. Thank you!
