Fish n chips, Fish Tacos, Salmon Tacos and a selection of appetizers will be on the Menu.
Served from 5pm til 7pm.
Reservations appreciated. Groups and families most welcome.

Time: 1 pm to approx 5 pm.
Where: We will meet at 1 pm at the picnic shelter at Forbes Hall to build the boxes and then drive to a suitable property for an installation demonstration.
Biologist Tania Tripp, who delighted and informed us about owls in July as part of the ThINC Nature Camp week, has generously donated materials for 20 Western Screech Owl nest boxes and volunteered to come over on Sunday Nov 8 to build boxes with us and then show us how to install and monitor them.
Please let us know if you are interested in attending this fun and exciting afternoon by emailing Ann Eriksson at ThINC@thetisisland.net or phoning 250-246-8176. There is no charge for this event. Here are the details:
What to bring:
For putting the boxes together, equipment needed includes:
Cordless drills (charged and with extra battery if you have one) with Philips, Roberts and flat bits
Hammers
For installation:
Cordless drills
Hammers
We also require 2 more extension ladders for installation.
We'll be outside for the afternoon so dress for the weather. Somewhere along the way we might find some cookies and hot drinks.
If you are interested in installing nest boxes on your property, please send me your property address, size of land and approximate dominant tree height and age so that Tania can assess whether the habitat is suitable for screech owls.
We're looking forward to hearing from you and hope you can make it.

Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 11:51AM As many of you are aware my family and I have moved to Parksville. I will be working my last day at the Thetis Island Post Office Wednesday November 4th. I have enjoyed my time as the postmaster and I will miss everyone.
Sonya Pitcairn will be taking over all the duties at the post office so please welcome her to her new position.
We will still come to Thetis Island for various functions and celebrations and if anyone needs to contact me or any member of our family our phone number is still the same. Thetis Islanders, you're a great community and you will be greatly missed.

This event is sponsored by ThINC (Thetis Island Nature Conservancy). With country and folk music caller Doug Paterson who appeared here at the Harvest Dance of 2013 it is sure to be fun Also featuring musicians Paul Ruszel on guitar and Eric Desaulnier on fiddle and banjo.
Tickets can be picked up at the recycling yard or by calling Suzanne 246-9965 or Vicki 246-9126
$10 adults suggested: $25 per family
Come as your favourite flora, fauna, ghoul or sprite or just come as you are!
Dinner provided by Nettie and Don will be available at a separate cost. $ 15 per person.Shepherd’s Pie and Apple Pie for dessert. Vegetarian and gluten free options will be available.
