Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 10:37AM Please click here to view the Wildfire News from the Coastal Fire Centre.
Remember: A campfire is 0.5 m X 0.5 m, is well situated (is on mineral soil and has a fuel break), it is monitored at ALL times and you have the means to put it out. If it does not meet this description it is not a campfire under the legal definition, and would be considered an illegal Category 2 open fire.

Friday, June 19, 2015 at 11:21AM Earlier this week, ten women arrived at the Kempes' home, to celebrate the generosity of Ruth Kempe through her volunteerism on Thetis Island. For years she has arranged the Tuesday afternoon community helpers from Capernwray, given her time to the school, and quietly been there for others in the community during times of need. We were so pleased to honour her with this award which was initiated by Barbara Williamson in the early 2000's to celebrate women who quietly volunteer within our loving community. This year all of the past recipients were on hand to pass the torch. The recipient is greeted with a cake, flowers, and some bubbly drinks, as well as the beautiful crystal candelsticks that will grace her home for the following year.
Congratulations to Ruth!

Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 7:42AM The cemetery needs some TLC - would you like to help ?
We need a few helping hands to clean up around the head stones, cut the grass under the fence and in general tidy up the cemetery a little. We generally work in the morning, do a picnic lunch and some stay on for the afternoon if need be. If you are willing to help, let me know which date works best for you and whichever gets the majority vote will be the day chosen. Choice: Tuesday June 23 or Thursday June 25.
