TI Improvement District AGM ~ Saturday April 23rd

The excitement of recycling day is top of mind for many of us on a Saturday morning. However, the Thetis Island Improvement District Annual General Meeting will be held at Forbes Hall on Saturday April 23rd @ 10 AM and I think it is possible for you to do both!

Following the AGM portion of the meeting we will continue the discussion on what level of service we want to see delivered by our volunteer fire department. I will review:

The new Fire Safety Act and it's impact on the fire department.

What services are currently delivered by the TIVFD.

Future capital requirements.

Funding considerations to ensure we maintain our volunteer fire department...

If I receive any new information from the CVRD on what it might look like to have the TIVFD become a CVRD department, I will share that also.

Suggested background reading: my article in the Winter 2015/16 Quarterly and the editorial and my article in the Spring 2016 Quarterly, and my presentation in the Minutes of the TIRRA Annual General Meeting, March 24th, 2016.

Coffee and wholesome snacks will be available.

Anna Kempe - Sooke 10K race

Anna Kempe ran her first 10K race this month, and came in first in her age group.  Huge congratulations to this dedicated runner!

From her dad, Ralf ~

We are very proud of her accomplishment being the first in her age group and also having run the 10 km in under 1 hour (57.30 min). She has trained with some die-hards since last November 2x a week at 6AM - rain and (not so much) shine.

Susy Fordham and Ted Bieber are the organizers, and after an exciting turnout of about 40 students in the beginning usually a good 10-12 students make it to the race in Sooke.

This has been the first time for her and now she is eager to run more.
