Margaret Armstrong passed away peacefully after 92 wonderful years on Sunday, 26 May 2024, in Duncan, B.C.
Born in a rural area once called Saskatchewan, Manitoba with a land section number on her birth certificate, she is preceded in death by loving husband Harry Armstrong, daughter Randi Armstrong and brother Jack Bergen.
Marg and Harry raised their family in Burnaby, B.C., for 28 years and spent many summers on Thetis Island where they eventually retired and enjoyed their final years. During their 40 plus years on Thetis they both will always be remembered for their work with the Thetis Island Volunteer Fire Dept. Marg cut the ribbon along with retired Fire Chief Pete Reese for the grand opening of the new fire hall. Marge also had a book published about the TIVFD called “A History of the Thetis Island Volunteer Fire Department”
She loved to spend time with family, friends and she will be fondly remembered by her son Brent (Barbara Armstrong), granddaughters Brittany and Ashley (Brandon) and great grandsons Daryl, Bodie and Dane, respectively. Marg also had a special place in her heart for childhood friend, Betty, and best friend, Merry.
The family would like to thank the staff of Dove Hill Village in Chemainus for their compassion and kindness.
She will be deeply missed by her brother Ted (Dawn) as well as nieces and nephews.
Donations would be gratefully appreciated to Marge’s favourite charity “Wildlife B.C.”
A celebration of life will be held for Marg on Thursday, 27 June, 2:00pm at Forbes Hall Community Centre on Thetis Island.

Small, hand-made, burgundy beanie found on Lawrence Trail.
At the bottom of the long hill as you head north.
It’s hung on a low cedar bough.

Looking to purchase on Thetis, a good used box spring and frame for a Queen-sized bed. Mattress is not needed but would take one if a package deal.

We'll be showing game seven here at Thetis Island Pub today (Go Oilers!), but our debit machines have not been working this week and we will be CASH ONLY until we get replacements in. The ATM in the store has been working.
Sorry for the inconvenience!
Puck drops at 5:00. Hope to see you then!

I am recuperating from knee surgery so have been off work and will be for a few more weeks. My understanding is that the sweeper is being made available to us Monday and Tuesday! So, watch for it, I will get him to start on Moore hill, heading north!
Cheers,
Joe Lange
This is just a heads-up that Pioneer Pacific Camp has sent us their summer camp schedule, and the busy ferry schedule at https://www.thetisisland.net/ferry/current-combined-busy.pdf has been updated to reflect the extra traffic.

Somehow kid’s stuff seems to multiply like magic. Before your next trip to the thrift store, we are going to have a Thetis Island kid’s stuff exchange! Perfect opportunity to refresh toys or stock up for grandkids visiting.
Bring your clean and (at least somewhat) functional toys, baby gear, sports equipment or anything else to the yellow farm stand on Mission road across from the Community Center on Friday, July 19th or in the morning on the 20th. We will leave everything out until Sunday evening and anything left after the weekend will be brought to the thrift stores.
You have lots of time to box and sort! So keep the dates in mind and go through your closets and we’ll see you in July!
