Canadian Parks & Wilderness Society Presentation, 12:30 ~ December 11

On Wednesday, Dec 11th members of CPAWS (Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society) will be joining us at Soups On.

They will be giving a short presentation/discussion at 12:30 to 1:00 pm on what they do.

CPAWS-BC defends public lands and the ocean. They work with Indigenous, provincial and federal governments with the goal of creating large protected and interconnected areas: places that can nurse nature through climate change and shelter plants and animals forever. One area of particular interest to Thetis Islanders would be their work on the Southern Strait of Georgia Marine Conservation Area.

CPAWS will be sponsoring a special dessert for attendees.

Stray Cat Found in Forest

My dog and I discovered a stray cat in the forest today on a side trail between Lawrence trail and Klahowya.

It has long black and white fur, with some pretty, big matts.

Happy to give details as to where I saw it. Photo on the Thetis blog.

Free Electric Range

My new 30" electric range is being delivered on Tuesday.

They will take the old one with them unless someone wants it.

It's being replaced because the temperature of oven is not stable enough for turkey roasting :)
4 stove elements and 2 oven elements all still work. It's white in colour and reasonably clean. The brand is Estate, it's older than dirt, and I have a couple of photos.

I can deliver it anywhere on Thetis on Tuesday, and I can help you unload it off my truck.

Firm commitment for my old stove needed by Monday night. (to receive on Tuesday).

Please respond by email. Thanks.

This is the last week of this year that we’ll be picking up local dairy, bagels and True Grain bread before we take some holidays. (resuming Jan 4)

https://www.jollityfarm.ca/order-form

If there are special holiday baking items or organic bulk pantry supplies you need from True Grain, their website lists them all and you can email or write requests on our order form.

Festive cookies-https://www.truegrain.ca/collections/cowichan-bakery-pick-up...

Festival cakes - https://www.truegrain.ca/collections/cowichan-bakery-pick-up...

Order pick up will be Saturday, Dec. 14 between 10am and 1pm

In addition to dairy and baking, we'll have a good supply of local veggies, eggs, dumplings and kombucha for you to stock up on.

We may be able to fit in one delivery of holiday ice cream flavours from 49 Below, this year but they aren't ready for us this week. We'll send a note out for special pick up if we get it in time.

With thanks,

Thetis Children's Christmas Bazaar & Tea: a Telegraph Harbour Marina Event

Tuesday, December 17 at 1pm

Thank you for sharing in the experience by bringing contributions to the “Bazaar” – Small, gently used items the children can select for their loved ones for less than a dollar or two.

Proceeds to be donated to the Thetis Library, and items not selected will be donated to the Chemainus Thrift Store.

There's still time to join in and we appreciate your thoughtfulness in choosing items you are willing to part with, that a child may experience joy and pride in the spirit of giving.

Drop off any time (but easiest during business hours at the cafe!)
