The People’s Apothecary Garden - Plant of the Week #10 - Lamb’s Ear

Best known for its amazingly fuzzy feeling leaves, lamb’s ear is a favourite among the TIES (Thetis Island Elementary School) community. One student was so blown away by it, he exclaimed upon feeling it, “Woah! Is that thing real??!” Although not a scrumptious plant like some, lamb’s ear does have medicinal properties!

More on this plant here: www.thetisislandnatureconservancy.org/single-post/plant-of-the-week

Thetis Island Resorts (Expanded Hours & Offerings)

The Pub is open Mondays Now!

Thetis Island Pub has a new menu to share with you and you're now able to come enjoy it on Mondays as well!

Our hours of operation are 11:30-7:30, Thursday to Monday. We’re closed on Wednesdays for the time being.

Every Tuesday, we are going to open for a special event called Karaoke. We will offer a limited menu.

Our #1 goal is to provide a safe space where we can all sing our favourite songs with no judgements.

Everyone is Welcome.

Please come out and have an amazing experience. Let your inner voice come out.

Every Tuesday 6pm start until we have no voices left.

Hope to see you all soon!

Science Nugget : Halley’s Comet

On 3 June in 1696, Edmond Halley announced his discovery that comets seen in 1531, 1607, and 1682 were in fact 3 separate observations of the same comet. This comet, now known as "Halley's comet", was last seen with the naked human eye from Earth in 1986 and will next be close to the Earth in July-August 2061.Set your watches!

On 3 June in Canadian History / World Bicycle Day

1885: In the last military engagement fought on Canadian soil, Mistahimaskwa (Big Bear), the powerful Cree leader and warrior, escapes the North-West Mounted Police.

and in the wider world….

World Bicycle Day: Good for you and the climate too!

3 June declared WBD by the United Nations, to recognize "the uniqueness, longevity and versatility of the bicycle, which has been in use for two centuries, and … is a simple, affordable, reliable, clean and environmentally fit sustainable means of transport."

Cheers to Thetis cyclists, walkers, runners, and the accompanying cats & dogs on our island’s byways.

Thanks to the drivers for keeping an eye out for self-propelled travelers on our curvy, narrow Thetis roads.

Be Kind & Be Safe: If on the roads and not driving, please wear a bright safety vest, hat, scarf, jacket, something! & (if using) single-ear headphone/bud. If driving, please take care for pedestrians, cyclists, and deer.

Turtle Found

Turtle found at front of ferry line up area just after midnight. I don't think it is natural here so guessing a lost pet. It is about 8 inches long and 5 to 6 inches across.
